Quality Assurance Engineer Emeryville, CA
Job Duties
We're looking for a Quality Assurance engineer to work with Engineering and Product Management to review product requirements and engineering specifications, develop test plans, test development, automation and execution of tests based on these documents for Sendmail products. Ideal candidates will have strong understanding of developing automation frameworks for enterprise-class products.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Provide quality assurance for Sendmail products. Review specification; develop test plans, test development, automation, and execution of tests for Sendmail products problem research, and QA reporting. Work with project team to plan, design, implement, document, automate, and execute tests, evaluate and communicate results, and investigate product features.
- Review requirements, design documents, etc. toward defining test requirements, execution time estimates
- Develop test plan, usage scenarios and test data
- Implement and automate tests
- Coordinate the creation and execution of test plans with the development team during the development phase as well as the QA phase
- Provide accurate resource and schedule estimates; Deliver on these estimates
- Manage the life-cycle of the identified bugs
Requirements
- Passion for quality and methodologies that lead to quality combined with a drive to ship products
- Strong experience in designing/developing automated test suites for enterprise-class products
- Track record in the successful delivery of enterprise software
- Working knowledge of UNIX (Solaris & Linux), and TCP/IP networking
- Direct experience in Linux/Solaris and Perl (or other scripting language)
- Very strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Possess outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience
- Proficiency with one or more of the following: Java, JUNIT, Perl, C, C++, HTTP, HTML, WEB Server
- 1-2 years of hands on experience with commercial automation tools (Rational, Segue, Mercury, etc).
- Knowledge of any or all internet mail standards, POP/SMTP/IMAP/LDAP, and a good understanding of TCP/IP and networking technologies is a plus.
- Knowledge of commercial email servers (Exchange, Domino, Sendmail, etc) and LDAP is a plus
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related field. Preferred with minimum of 4+ years of experience in development or QA roles
