SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., RSA Conference – February 5, 2007 – Sendmail, Inc., the leading global provider of trusted messaging, today announced that it will provide its Global 2000 customers with unrivaled policy-driven, secure and compliant messaging through a partnership with Voltage Security, Inc., a global leader in enterprise privacy management. This strategic partnership will strengthen Sendmail’s Trusted Unified Messaging Platform (TrUMP) with award-winning encryption capabilities that, combined with Sendmail’s advanced policy engine, will allow greater security and policy enforcement for high performance inbound and outbound message processing.
On average, 30 percent of a company's critical business information is sent through and stored in email. Because much of this content – including legal documents, financial information, and employee records - is deemed confidential or proprietary, organizations are becoming increasingly concerned about protecting the transfer of information. These concerns, coupled with a body of regulations that specify particular rules pertaining to the transmission of private information have made policy-based data encryption mandatory. Sendmail’s Trusted Unified Messaging Platform uniquely meets these requirements with its policy-centric, secure, open architecture designed to provide customers the ability to protect sensitive data to comply with regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
"The messaging threats companies face today are becoming more and more sophisticated. Add to that ever-growing numbers of regulatory requirements and corporate governance procedures to which they must adhere, and it’s apparent that powerful and flexible solutions for security and compliance are imperative,” said Glen D. Vondrick, Executive Vice President, Sendmail. “To be effective, solutions must apply well-defined policies to the use of encryption to ensure that select electronic communications are delivered securely. Working together with Voltage, our customers are provided the means to effectively meet the challenge of safeguarding their important business data with an easy to use and manage policy-centric messaging platform.”
Combining the Voltage Identity-Based Encryption (IBE™) technology with Sendmail’s award-winning high performance policy engine, customers are provided an enterprise-proven secure messaging solution featuring centralized control and comprehensive content scanning of inbound, outbound and internal message processing for a broad range of security threats, regulatory compliance issues, corporate governance needs and archiving policies. Messages containing identifiable private or confidential information in the body of a message or in an attachment - such as social security numbers, account numbers or spreadsheets - are automatically encrypted to comply with mandates such as HIPAA or GLBA. The result is a powerful encryption solution that is easy to implement and easy to manage, without the overhead and cost inherent in traditional security solutions.
"We're pleased to join forces with Sendmail, as both companies are dedicated to delivering best-of-breed secure messaging solutions to the market,” said Ray Kruck, vice president of business development, Voltage Security. “The combination of Sendmail’s powerful policy management engine with our breakthrough Voltage Identity-Based Encryption technology is exactly what security and compliance conscious organizations need to solve their difficult messaging challenges.”
